Visit to the SUREFIT Spanish Demo Site for Architecture School Students

Last March 2024, Joaquín García Álvarez, representing the Fundación Santa María la Real del Patrimonio Histórico, participated in Rebuild 2024, the leading event in innovation for the building sector, held at IFEMA Madrid. Invited by AEICE, he took part in a roundtable discussion where he presented the innovative technologies of the SUREFIT project, a European Union-funded initiative under the Horizon 2020 program, focused on energy-efficient building renovation through sustainable solutions.

Rebuild 2024, which brought together more than 24,000 industry professionals and showcased over 5,600 new construction projects, served as a key platform for generating new opportunities and promoting innovations in advanced architecture and Construction 4.0. Within this framework, Joaquín García Álvarez shared insights and progress from the SUREFIT project, highlighting its impact on energy efficiency and resource consumption reduction in the building sector.

During his presentation, he explained how the SUREFIT solutions improve thermal insulation, optimize energy consumption, and reduce the carbon footprint of existing buildings. The roundtable discussion also provided a space to debate the challenges and opportunities of energy-efficient renovation, with participation from industry experts.

The presence of SUREFIT at Rebuild 2024, supported by AEICE, reinforces the project’s commitment to transforming the built environment and adopting innovative strategies for the decarbonization of the construction sector.
