Tribuna Ávila Highlights ‘Renew Your Energy’ Project: Bringing Social Entities Closer to Energy Efficiency Solutions
We are thrilled to announce that Tribuna Ávila has recently featured our latest initiative, Renew Your Energy, an exciting project aimed at fostering energy efficiency in social entities across Castilla y León. The project, promoted by the Santa María la Real Foundation and the Ávila Foundation, with the support of the EDP Foundation, is creating new opportunities for third sector organizations to improve their energy transition strategies.
Launched in 2023, Renew Your Energy has successfully reached over a dozen social entities, engaging nearly 700 participants in its first phase. The second phase, now in full swing, is expanding its impact, enabling even more organizations to adopt renewable energy solutions and optimize energy efficiency.
One of the recent highlights of the project was a site visit to energy-efficient buildings and a local energy cooperative in Valladolid. During the tour, attendees were able to see first-hand how innovative solutions, such as those implemented through the European project SUREFIT, can dramatically reduce energy consumption. For example, two residential buildings on Avenida de Santander have achieved a 60% reduction in carbon emissions and cut renovation costs and time by 50% and 40%, respectively. (Public Demonstration)
Participants also visited an energy cooperative on Aravalle Street, learning about community-led energy generation and management. This cooperative’s renewable energy solutions currently provide for most of the needs of seven local families, showcasing a sustainable, collaborative model of energy production.
In addition to these site visits, Renew Your Energy is also developing educational resources, including a guide on energy efficiency and renewable energy, as well as a manual of best practices. Furthermore, a virtual fair will be held to connect social entities with renewable energy specialists, empowering them with the knowledge and tools needed to take meaningful steps toward a greener future.
We extend our thanks to Tribuna Ávila for sharing the news of this impactful initiative, and to all our partners for their ongoing support in promoting a sustainable energy transition. Together, we are driving positive change for the environment and the communities we serve.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Renew Your Energy project continues to evolve!
